Bottled water is expected to continue to post robust growth in off-trade volume sales during the forecast period, with no more than a slight slowdown in growth from the review period. Persistent concerns regarding the quality of tap water will remain the main driver of growth, supported by ongoing population expansion.
Established categories like carbonated and still bottled water are expected to maintain strong volume positions, catering to consumers looking for basic hydration, but niche segments like flavoured bottled water and functional bottled water are projected to grow in popularity as healthier alternatives to carbonates, driven by the increasing variety of brands and flavours, as well as increased health awareness among local consumers. These products offer unique benefits and taste experiences that appeal to a wider audience.
Small local grocers are expected to remain the primary sales channel for bottled water in Uzbekistan, despite the growing presence of supermarkets and the emergence of e-commerce. A key development in both supermarkets and small grocery retailers is the increasing availability of fridges in shops, as major players step up their efforts to make efforts to ensure their drinks are sold cold, which is essential in Uzbekistan’s hot climate.

Bottled Water
This category is the aggregation of still bottled water (spring, mineral & purified), carbonated bottled water (spring, mineral & purified), flavoured bottled water and functional bottled water. Bulk bottled water is split out separately. It is defined as packaged drinking water – purified, spring or mineral – that is packaged in a container of 8 litres or larger. The bulk bottled water data types apply to Still Bottled Water and Carbonated Bottled Water but do not apply to functional or flavoured bottled water. Bulk water is classified according to the new Bulk retail volume and Bulk retail value data type regardless of channel of sale: bulk water sold via retail locations and bulk water delivered direct to a consumer’s home is included. Bulk water sold to institutions (offices, schools etc.) remains excluded.
